Mike Stewart started wood carving at Lee Valley Tools in April of 2008 at Coquitlam, B.C., he joined the MR Lapidary Club in August 2008. In October 2008 Kevin Healy introduced Mike to Italian soap stone as a sculpting medium. The wild life of BC’s west coast influences all of Mike’s works. Grizzly bears, seals, sea stars, sea lions and herons become his study pieces.
Mike started taking pottery and hand building classes in clay with Brigitta Schneiter in the spring of 2010. This lead to studies in sculpting clay under the guidance of Parvaneh Roudgar at Place des Arts in September 2010.

Mike’s sculptures are currently in private collections in BC, Saskatchewan, Newfoundland, Ontario, Washington, California, England, Scotland and Teran. Exhibitions have been held at Place des Arts Positively Petite and in galleries at Little Gypsys Fine Jewellery in Port Moody, Birthplace of BC in Fort Langely , Maple Ridge Studio Art Tours.
