Medium: Wood Art and Turnings

As a young man he started working in the lumber mills building his career in the industry, which spans over 60 years. Gary can spot a tree and know exactly what beautiful features the tree has. At the beginning of his woodturning hobby upon retirement, he used his comprehensive knowledge of trees and incorporated that to help create his functional yet gorgeous pieces. Move forward 14 years and Gary had taken numerous seminars and classes across North America enhancing his skill set. As he becomes older, the realization that life is moving too fast has helped him turn his eye to the artistic component of wood turning. He not only turns gorgeous pieces of wood that only a true woodturner’s eye can recognise, but he incorporates stunning detail to the pieces through different mediums. Such examples are pyrography, dyeing/staining, texturing, colouring and working with hybrids resin and wood combined.
