Medium: Acrylic, Watercolor, Oil

Val discovered painting about 17 years ago when she nervously signed up for watercolour lessons. She quickly realized how much she enjoyed painting and has since explored acrylics and oils. Most of Val’s current work is done in acrylic, but she still enjoys playing with watercolours and oils. She sets up her makeshift studio in the dining room of her townhome, with her cat Emma always close by. Her artwork is inspired by her passion for nature, gardens, animals, and travels and she enjoys the use of vibrant colours. Val also really enjoys transforming small wood furniture pieces. She starts by chalk painting the piece and then embellishing with her own artwork in acrylic. She likes to think of these unique pieces as functional art. Val finds painting and creating to be almost meditative…she becomes focused on the piece and lets everything else go for a while.
